Just Ten Questions with Heather Sharp

Today we introduce you to Heather Sharp, one of our very brilliant Legal Assistants here at Thornton Jones Solicitors. We feel it’s important for you to know just who you might deal with so today we quiz Heather with just ten questions.

Question 1: When did you decide that a career in Law was for you?

I decided to study law when I was in college. I had never really done anything law related up until applying to do an undergraduate in Law however I wanted to be a Solicitor when I was younger but never really thought that I would end up working in the area.

Question 2: What and where did you study?

I studied Health and Social Care at Harrogate College where I achieved three A*. I originally wanted to be a midwife, but quickly decided that wasn’t for me so thought I would give law a try. I received an unconditional offer to study International Law at the University of Hull where I had the best time and made some of my best friends! Finishing final year in the middle of a pandemic was really hard but I managed to achieve a 2:1 even with no in-person teaching or lectures for 3 months.

Question 3: What do you love the most about working in Law?

I love that everyday I learn something new. Working in law is a constant challenge but it means that it keeps you on your toes and no day is the same. Its also nice to see that your job is helping people, whether that’s with buying and selling their homes or another area of law.

Question 4: ….and what do you dislike the most?

Getting so many emails! My inbox is always over flowing and I sometimes feel like I can never get on top of it.

Question 5: If you weren’t working hard to become a fully qualified Solicitor what career would you choose?

I think I would train to be Cabin Crew! Ive always loved travelling and think this would be a good way of seeing the world.

Question 6: What book have you read most recently and what book is your all-time favourite?

The last book I read was by Karen Rose, all of her books are incredible! I love to read but never find the time in the UK, but when im on holiday I can read about 4 books in a week easily.

Question 7: Who are your idols/inspiration?

My idol is our close family friend Duncan Freeman. Dunk recently passed away due to Covid-19 however he was the nicest person anyone ever met. If I live a life like he did and have as many friends and loved ones as him then I believe I’ve done something worthwhile with my life.

Question 8: What’s your claim to fame?

My claim to fame is that I once served Calum Scott (singer of Dancing On My Own) while working at Sainsbury’s when I was at University! I didn’t even know it was him at the time till everyone told me after he had left.

Question 9: Tell us something about yourself that very few people know?

I don’t like tea or coffee!

Question 10: What’s your favourite tipple and who do you enjoy a tipple with?

I don’t really tend to drink much alcohol since leaving university so my favourite drink is definitely Pepsi Max. However I do enjoy a good Pornstar Martini with friends or family or a vodka fresh orange on holiday in the sunshine.

Huge thanks to Heather for taking just ten minutes to answer just ten questions! Now that we know a little more about Heather our next task is to quickly Google who Calum Scott is (no, I’ve never heard of him either).
