Clare Thornton, family law and divorce solicitor, Wakefield, West Yorkshire joined the practice in September 2004. Prior to that she had spent many years working as a family law and divorce solicitor in private practice in Wakefield and Castleford.
Clare took her degree at Sheffield University achieving a 2:1 BA(hons)Law. She qualified as a solicitor in 1995, and has specialised in family law ever since.
Clare is divorced, remarried and has 4 children, so fully understands from a personal point of view, the traumas of relationship breakdown!
Clare is an accredited specialist for Resolution (formerly Solicitors Family Law Association), and an experienced collaborative lawyer. She is also an accredited Resolution trained Mediator. Clare has also now qualified as a Family Law Arbitrator and is one of very few in the country able to conduct Family Arbitration work.
Although Clare continues to deal with traditional Family Law matters, including divorce, financial issues and children matters, she spends a large amount of her time now engaged in family mediation and collaborative law cases.

Liz Fyfe family law and divorce solicitor, Wakefield, West Yorkshire joined the firm on the 1st November 2004, and qualified as a Divorce solicitor on 15th April 2008. She joined the partnership in April 2009.
Liz attained a 1st class Honours degree in Law at Sheffield Hallam University, and achieved Student of the Year and Resolution prize for Family Law whilst at Nottingham Law School doing her Legal Practise Course.
She is a member of Resolution and trained Mediator. Liz specialises in resolving financial matters arising from separation and divorce as well as children disputes which need to be dealt with in the courts.
Liz also deals with conveyancing and Wills and Probate matters and is currently studying for a Diploma in Trusts and Estates Administration.
Steven joined Thornton Jones Family Law Solicitors, Wakefield, in October 2013 from Chadwick Lawrence Solicitors and is already making his mark! Steven qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and is proud to be the only solicitor in Wakefield to have gained Resolution's Accredited Specialist status in Advanced Financial Provision. This means he has been recognised as a specialist in dealing with medium to high net worth financial cases on divorce. Steven also enjoys the enforcement of financial orders which have been made on divorce but have not been complied with, further enhancing his reputation as an outstanding litigator.
Away from the office, aside from his family, Steven's main interests are playing golf and following rugby union!
Jessica is the newest member of our Family Law Team. She is currently studying to be a paralegal specialising in Family Law and we are happy to welcome her onboard. Jessica currently assists us all with our work and you may meet her during your time with us!
