Nicola joined our Contentious Probate team in October 2019 from Blacks Solicitors. She brings a wealth of experience to the team being a full member of ACTAPS (The Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Solicitors) and her knowledge and expertise has made the team the best in the area.
Nicola specialises in all areas related to disputes concerning wills, trusts, inheritances and probate. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor Nicola was a social worker in a hospice. This experience has given her a deeper understanding of issues related to bereavement and also greater awareness of varying mental capacity, both of which are invaluable in this type of work.
With the increase in people making their own wills, the growth in the number of unregulated wills and trust providers and the change in family dynamics Nicola has seen a dramatic rise in the number of enquiries from people seeking to bring a claim, or having to face defending a claim being brought against them. Nicola however is one of a limited number of people who only carry out this type of work.
In these sorts of disputes emotions can run high and litigating may not be the most appropriate way to resolve things. Nicola is an advocate for trying to avoid court proceedings if at all possible however will fight vehemently all the way to trial if that is necessary. Her calm, understanding yet determined approach enables her to help clients see the way to a solution.
Outside of work Nicola enjoys seeing as much of the world as she can, sampling food and craft ales along the way.
